• How did Moses know how to lead God’s people? God led him.
  • How did Jesus know how to lead His disciples? God led Him.
  • How did Peter know how to address the hundreds during his sermon?  The Spirit of God led him.
  • How do you know how to lead your business or ministry?

Similar to other Cloud Walk environments, as we work with business and ministry leaders, we mainly want to convey and focus on building an intimate, listening-oriented relationship with God.  From a place of listening and intimacy with God, we can then help leaders, boards and management teams focus on how God may be leading their organizations, how to live out God’s vision for the organization and how to incorporate long-term vision and purpose into the business or ministry.

In 2 Chronicles 29, Ahaz’s son Hezekiah inherited a nation that was spiritually cold, militarily weak and politically disorganized. Remind you of a tough day at the office? If this were your business, what would you do?

If you are like most business people, you might form a committee, talk to stakeholders, bring in your department heads or hire a consultant to make your plans.  You’d probably then begin aggressive moves to combat the difficulties you face.

What did Hezekiah do?  Wisely he chose to re-establish the worship of God as the nation’s top priority.  In the first month of his administration, Hezekiah reopens and repairs the house of the Lord, restores observance of the Passover and declares war on idol worship and pagan practices.  When the Assyrians come, Hezekiah handles the danger as he has handled so many decisions before: on his knees.

God answers Hezekiah’s prayer and honors his faith by bringing Assyria to defeat without a single Israelite soldier being lost the battle.

Can you imagine…that Hezekiah had all these problems and for 30 whole days he focused on worship and spending time with God.  Thirty days is a long time!  The demands of his other problems surely weighed him down heavily during that thirty days.

What’s the first thing a leader should do to set a new tone, overcome giant obstacles, chart a purposeful path?  How can Hezekiah’s approach change your business in a long-term meaningful way?
